Newfoundland Dog - Charlie - Medium - Young - Male - Dog
Newfoundland mix, 1 year old, 55 pounds, male
Meet Charlie! This gorgeous hunk of fluff has come to DC to find his forever home! Charlie is a Newfie mix who loves people and is great with other dogs and even cats! See how polite and friendly he is meeting Georgie , the Coonhound, another one of our rescues from the same shelter. Here he is again meeting George the cat in the video below taken by the Virginia shelter during his 'cat-test'. He is good with all kinds of people, cats, and dogs. He loves the dog park and is always eager to meet all of the other dogs. No matter what you are doing, watching TV or reading, Charlie will follow you around and then settle near you. He loves to play with chew toys and his kong. Charlie is very smart, high energy, and an affectionate dog. Charlie is working on leash, crate and house training right now. Although he has a lot of things to learn, we have no doubt he can be trained and is going to make someone a wonderful companion. Please see more photos of Charlie in his album ! To meet Charlie, fill out our online form: /adoption-application.html Additional Information about Charlie: Because Charlie was not given a monthly heartworm preventative medication in his previous life before arriving at City Dogs Rescue, he contracted heartworm disease and will need to be treated. Heartworm disease is 100% treatable and Charlie will be able to lead a normal, happy, healthy life after treatment. The treatment process requires a series of 2-3 injections of medication. In between the treatments, Charlie must be in a calm, comfortable home environment where he can rest. It is especially important for Charlie to find his forever home soon so that he can begin his treatment as soon as possible and get on the road to recovery. Charlie will be forever grateful to his new family for providing this life-saving treatment for him and will return his thanks with years of love! ADOPTION FEE IS REDUCED TO $175 DUE TO HEARTWORM STATUS
